Afternoon Courses
2.00pm to 4.30pm, includes refreshments.
I give these information-packed afternoons through different seasons – two hours of intensive learning about topics that make such a difference to being successful with your gardening.
We start with a propagation in early spring, and I come back to this in late summer as well, because propagation is ongoing from February to October.
Making compost is such a key skill and, whilst teaching day courses, I notice the fascination with how to do it successfully. This is an opportunity to look in detail at the various methods I use, and which you can employ according to the size of your garden, and materials available.
Another topic which elicits much curiosity is succession planting – having seeds and plants ready to pop in the ground at the right time, mostly during the summer but at other times as well. It's a huge topic but one that is not difficult to succeed with once you understand a few key principles, such as the lack of bed preparation needed in no dig, and timings of new sowings – for this I recommend looking at my Sowing Timeline webpage for baseline knowledge.
