Introduction – Skills for Growing

Skills, what are they? Adroitness, craft, dexterity, expertise, finesse, handiness, knack, quickness, technique. And art, creativity.

You can have all the knowledge in the world, but without practical skills the know-how won’t necessarily translate into a healthy, productive and easy-to-run garden.

I grew up on a farm and have gardened all my life. This has given me a level of productive ability that I take for granted. Then I notice that other people do not have such a level of competence. Hence this course (which is an updated version of my original online course, ‘Growing Success’).

Growing food is fun, for exercise and to learn from experience. You create beauty, in the garden and on the plate, and discover and enjoy new levels of wellbeing.

I hope, dear learner, that the lessons in this course can help you to increase your abilities. Read the text, then rewrite it on your garden. Enjoy the process, and create bigger and healthier harvests.
