Amanda Weller

I have been doing no dig for a couple of years now. This year I changed the direction of the beds so it was easier for me to get in to that area of the garden and around the beds, and also, much to my excitement, I started to compost and already started using it in the Autumn.

It's all looking much more shabby than a couple of days ago as I had the chickens out - I won't be doing that again as my no dig will turn into "well dug"!  They removed all the watercress tops, and all the beetroot leaves and they LOVE the cabbage leaves!  Hey ho.  I'm still learning.  Am excited to see that they left the romanesco which seems to be growing by the day at the moment.

My husband gave me some hand held scales and I recorded most of my produce this year until October, so I reckon with the Nov / Dec pickings (for us and the chickens!), I will have passed 60kg in 2024.  Need to get planning for this year now!  The calendar is absolutely brilliant - it revolutionised my veg garden and the variety of produce this year.
