The idea to stop digging the precious soil in our garden came to us around 15 years ago when we were living on the sun-scorched plains of Hungary during a season of extreme drought, even before we heard about others doing the exact same thing.
Our current no-dig garden in Breb, Romania, is an act of rewilding, not only nature, but of ourselves too. Over the past seven years we've allowed and encouraged it to become more of a perennial garden, including herbs, edible weeds, berries, bushes and shrubs, with elements of annuals to fill in the gaps.
