Ellen & Gunārs at Mikrobioferma

Since 2021, we have run the small regenerative farm "Mikrobioferma" in the Courland region of Latvia.

We have about 60 x 10m beds and we are still growing. We sell veggies and eggs at the 2 local farmers markets, to a few cafés and we also offer a weekly subscription in the growing season. In addition, we run a small flock of dairy sheep, holistically grazing the surrounding pastures which consists of natural meadows with great biodiversity.

Our name is inspired by the microbiology that we care for, in order to farm the land, using just compost and rainwater for the market garden and animals for the pastures.

All the methods of sowing, planting and composting are derived from Mr. Dowding's tried and true methods.
