Jacomine en Rubin - Puur van de Buur

Wenum Wiesel

In 2019, mother and son Jacomine and Rubin started a 400m² vegetable garden. It has grown into a no-dig garden of over 900m² from which we sell vegetables to customers and a restaurant.

We cultivate nearly 50 different types of vegetables and herbs, with Rubin -besides his study- mostly handling the gardening and Jacomine taking care of harvesting and marketing, as we have turned it into a business. It’s called Puur van de Buur. We sell vegetables grown without artificial fertilizers or pesticides.

Now, as the garden enters its seventh year, we have developed a beautiful soil full of worms, fungi, and bacteria. Every year, we add homemade compost and digested cow manure to the beds—though we always seem to have too little! 😊

Using the no-dig method, we enjoy healthy and beautiful plants each year while continuing to build a healthy ecosystem.

We grow a wide variety of vegetables and herbs, ranging from spinach, leeks and pickles to green beans and coriander. With the acquisition of a greenhouse, we also plan to grow tomatoes and peppers.
