What difference could no dig make for you?

For many, the thought of getting out in the garden means weeding. What if you could get straight on with sowing, planting and harvesting instead? With no dig you’ll get rid of most weeds early on with easy mulching. After that, you’ll be free to enjoy gardening as a satisfying and productive pleasure, not a chore.

The benefits that begin in the soil grow through other areas of your life too. You’ll have high quality, delicious and nutritious food for you and your family. You’ll feel the satisfaction of having grown it yourself and knowing it’s 100% organic and great quality. And you won’t have to worry about rising costs of food on supermarket shelves.

Gardening in this way actually helps relieve stress and anxiety. Believe me, spending time working with and not against nature is good for you, body and soul! It helps restore connections between ourselves, our food and nature.

I’m Charles Dowding, and I’d love you to find the same joy in gardening that I have.

I started growing vegetables in 1982. Since then I’ve learned from my own experience just how productive and wonderful no dig methods are. Other than gardening there’s nothing I love more than sharing how simple and effective no dig is. As a result, I’ve written books, spoken to many audiences and appeared on TV. You may have seen some of my many YouTube videos.

I want to make learning about no dig affordable and as simple and effective as the method itself. That’s why I developed these courses, to guide you through your no dig journey.

I wasn’t sure about taking your course as I had learned so much from your YouTube channel, books, and a talk you gave at Llandeilo last year. I took it anyway, as I thought If nothing else it would consolidate what I had learned, and was also a way to give back as I appreciate the hard work that goes into all those videos and blog posts etc. However, I got a lot more from the course than anticipated and feel I have a really solid understanding of no dig now.

Great value to make no dig more accessible

No dig can make a huge difference for all of us and the planet. It’s important now more than ever. I really want this lovely method, and all the support and advice I give with it, to be accessible to as many people as possible. I’m also aware that rising living costs put a strain on pockets. But in the long run, growing your own veg will save you money.

I want you to not have to worry about food prices, excessive packaging waste and the quality of the food you and your family eat. That’s why I’ve reduced the cost of all my online courses and sometimes offer discounts too. This way we can keep the initial investment you need to get started as low as possible.

My courses cost less than formal growing qualifications. And they provide you with all the know-how to get the results you need.

Your questions answered

How do I know which course is right for me?

No Dig Gardening gives you all the information you need to start no dig. You can go from having little or no gardening experience to growing your own veg in a sustainable and easy way.

Skills For Growing is great for you to elevate your skill set so you can save even more time and space in your garden.

From Seed To Harvest compliments either course. It will provide you with greater confidence in growing specific crops.

Do I have to complete No Dig Gardening before I can start Skills For Growing or From Seed to Harvest?

No, you don’t have to follow my courses in a specific order as there is flexibility built-in. If you’re interested in developing the skills covered in any of the courses you can dive straight in.

Is it the right time to start?

Yes. No dig is very versatile and you can start any time. There’s always something you can do whatever the weather and throughout the seasons. The sooner you start learning and taking steps the sooner you’ll see results.

In many ways, there’s never been a better time to start no dig. The more we can turn to affordable, organic and sustainable food growth the better for us and the planet.

What if I don’t have much time to spend on my garden at the moment?

If you don’t have much time, no dig is a great solution for you! One of the great aspects of no dig is that you can get started with a small amount of time and effort. You will still see great results. No dig actively saves you time in the garden.

Do I have to complete the courses within set time limits?

No, there are no time limits. You have lifelong access to any course you buy. You can work at your own pace and come back to different course materials as and when you need to. My courses offer lifelong learning for your growing journey.

I’ve watched lots of your YouTube videos, do I need your courses?

My online courses contain a lot more insight and detail than I’m able to give on my YouTube videos. I take you through no dig, from getting started to honing your expertise. The majority of the course videos are exclusive and are not available anywhere else. Plus the lessons provide further resources such as photos and timelines. These help you get a thorough overview of applying no dig methods so you can get the most from your gardening.

Will I need to spend more on extra tools to start no dig?

You don’t need lots of special equipment for no dig. The main investment is in compost if you don’t have your own. In some circumstances, I recommend fleece and netting to protect your young plants.

Are the courses relevant to me if my climate is different from yours?

Yes. People all over the world and in varying climates have experienced great success with no dig. You may need to adjust sowing times. Please see testimonials here.

What if my garden is very small. Will no dig work for me?

Absolutely. Even with a small space, you can grow many different vegetables. No dig works very well at saving space. A small space means it will be quick and easy to take care of weeds. Plus it will be quick to plant second crops in the summer.

Can I buy separate modules for different courses?

Yes, you can. You can customise your learning by shopping for different modules here.

Are there downloadable materials like PDFs?

Most of the course is fully accessible online so you don’t need to download files. There are some downloadable resources in the Seed To Harvest course.

Can I get one-to-one support from you?

One thing I can’t offer is personal support, there are not enough hours in the day! But, you’ll find a lot of ‘me’ and my supportive encouragement in the course. Many students mention they feel like I’m there for them in the course materials and that’s the approach I like to take. I also try to reply to your questions and comments on my social media channels and blog posts, but please appreciate that I can’t always reply to all.

Can I ask questions of you and your team?

Yes. My team and I are always happy to help our students with any questions. Please email [email protected]

Is the course accredited by any official bodies?

No. It’s my unique creation and bears my name, which millions of people worldwide recognise.
