Module tray – CD15
£5.76
Buy from Containerwise

This 15-cell module tray of my own design is made of strong and durable recycled polypropylene.

It has wide holes at the bottom which enable plants to be pushed up easily and also improve drainage. The tapered cells require less compost and result in no waterlogging around the roots. The polypropylene creates smooth and solid cells that help plant rootballs slide upwards with little or no damage to the plant roots, and none to the tray.

Specifications: tray size 178mm x 108mm x 44mm / cell size 29.5mm / cell volume 21cm³ / weight 74g / drainage hole diameter 14mm

The tray is also available with 30 and 60 cells. The cell size is the same in all three, the only variable is number of cells per tray.

What can be sown in CD trays:

All vegetables and flowers, except for runner beans and broad beans, the largest seeds. It is possible to use them for broad beans, but seedlings then need transplanting when small because the roots quickly run out of space. For runner and broad beans, I use these 40L trays from Containerwise.
